Disabled patrons

Burnley Mechanics welcomes people with disabilities. Assistant Dogs are welcome and water can be provided. A Textphone service is also available on 01282 425011. The Fire Authorities advise that all wheelchair patrons remain in their wheelchairs throughout the performance as transferring to a regular seat is not recommended. Able bodied companions will be requested to assist should an emergency evacuation arise. If you use a wheelchair it is vitally important that you inform the Box Office at time of booking as our licensing regulations allow for two wheelchair users per event. Wheelchair spaces are situated on A row of the front stalls. Burnley Mechanics operate a free ticket for essential carer’s policy. Please check with Box Office for details, conditions apply.

Babes in arms and young children

All theatre performances are not recommended for children under 2 years of age. The management reserves the right to ask parents to remove children if, in the management’s opinion, they are causing a disturbance.

Access

There is a ramp at the Manchester Road entrance and two lifts one from ground floor level and one from Foyer level to the Auditorium and the Tudor room. Please call the box office to arrange assistance prior to your visit.  There is a very small gradient from the car park to the theatre entrance on York street, if you believe this will be a problem please call the box office to arrange assistance from car park level.

Toilets

Radar key operated toilets for customers with disabilities are located on all three floors and baby-changing facilities are available in the lower foyer.

Hard of hearing

There is an induction loop system in the main theatre: put your hearing aid on T switch. It works best in the tier using seats 20-23 on rows F-T, and in the stalls using seats 22-25 on rows C-E. The next best areas are seats 1-5 (tier and stalls) on the other side of the theatre. Seats in the centre section should not be used.

The latest artwork to be displayed in the Front Room is brought to you by Stephen Ormerod. His work showcases the industrial heritage of Burnley.
If you're interested in displaying your artwork in either the Front Room or Lounge Bar, get in touch! The space is available to local artists to exhibit their work, and there is still availability throughout 2017. It's free to have an exhibition but there is a (very reasonable) commission on any sales. Around 70,000 people came through the building in the past year with our busy Bistro and sell out shows so it's great exposure for the artwork.
If you would like to find out more please email Rachel Hawthorn at rhawthorn@burnley.gov.uk
