Burnley Mechanics has two volunteer opportunities; you are welcome to sign up to either or both.  There is no deadline for the roles as they will run all year. We are really keen to give people an opportunity to gain experience,  to influence what happens in our Front Room, and to play a part in keeping the Mechanics a vibrant and welcoming theatre in the heart of Burnley.

Community Promoter

We want to make The Front Room at Burnley Mechanics a thriving home for new theatre, music, art and more, and we want you to be at the heart of it.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, local people to join us for monthly meetings where you’ll help to choose, organise and host professional events in The Front Room.

Are you passionate about making things happen in Burnley? Would you like to see more exciting things come to your town? Then get in touch with Stephie by emailing stephie@culturapedia.co or calling 01254 674 777 to find out more!

Front of House Volunteer

We need volunteers, not to mend cars, but to enjoy arts, theatre, music and culture.

Burnley Mechanics is regarded as one of the most well respected receiving theatres in the UK having played host to national and international artists form all genres of performance, arts and culture.

Recently the Mechanics has undergone major refurbishment, opened a bistro and gin bar and developed un-used space into dance studios and smaller performance auditorium. Further plans are afoot to re-develop the lower floors of the building into a community facility and resource for the entire town.

The Mechanics is part of Burnley Leisure, a registered charity and we are looking for volunteers to work evenings and weekends to support the existing team in its front of house department. We need Volunteer Meet & Greeters who are able to add to our already renowned hospitality and warm welcome.

As a Volunteer Meet & Greeter you will not only get the chance to meet a varied audience base, but enjoy the performances taking place at the Mechanics and get a real feel for arts, culture and entertainment. You will need to be smart, personable and enjoy talking and engaging with the general public.  As you get to know the Mechanics and its programme of events we hope you will be able to signpost people to other events and generally promote everything that the Mechanics and Burnley Leisure has to offer.

In return we will provide volunteers with a smart uniform, training, travel expenses and time to watch some fantastic performances.
