Burnley Mechanics is proud to present a series of shows and performances, introducing children to the magical world of theatre. This season Burnley Mechanics welcome a vast array of family friendly shows and entertainment to its stage.

Many of our theatre shows aimed at young children can be seen on weekday’s during the day, making them an ideal choice for school and nursery school trips. Shows aimed at young children are an appropriate length and often include an interval. Some shows also include key themes like teamwork, friendship building and co-operation – helping children to learn as they watch.

There’s a Ben & Jerry’s Ice-cream bar on site for an extra special treat and special discounts for groups of ten or more available from the box office.

Join us for the first ever Mechanics Gin and Jazz Club, as we welcome the Jane Smith Quartet to the Front Room. Playing everything from jazz classics such as The Lady Is A Tramp, At Last and Autumn Leaves to more modern jazz and funk tunes by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. Sit back, relax and sip on one of our speciality gins (other drinks are available), as our Front Room is transformed into an intimate Jazz club for the night.

Keep your eye out for our Gruffalo characters that we've got up around the Mechanics as we get ready for The Gruffalo in October.
Get ready to join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the party mad Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?
Songs, laughs and scary fun for children of all ages and their grown-ups, in the much-loved show that’s toured Britain and the world!

Take yourself back to the golden age of Liverpool's music, comedy and entertainment with ROCKIN' & ROLLING WITH LAUGHTER on Friday 27th October.

An evening of theatre and live music to celebrate and remember the centenary of Burnley lad Thomas Whitham being awarded the Victoria Cross at the battle of Passchendaele in WW1.
A devised theatre show presented by students of Thomas Whitham Sixth form and a live music set from Manchester folk band, Harp and a Monkey make up an evening of spine tingling entertainment.
